The goal of this project was to create a promotional posters for Madison Equality’s (ME) “Dukes Pride Week." It’s a week of events put on by ME to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and allies at JMU. The theme this year focused around self love, and the featured quote was “loving yourself is the greatest revolution.” I wanted to include imagery so people know it’s a queer event, but also focus on the self love aspect. Madison Equality tends to disproportionately attract female-identified participants to their events, so the poster design should appeal to male-identified individuals as well. I achieved this using the word “revolution,” (which has love spelled backwards in it) and leaning into the grittiness of that in the design.
