It took me a few years in the industry to learn the phrase "evergreen content," but when I did, I realized I'd actually been using the concept my whole career!
Evergreen content is content that can be shared at any time, and will always be "fresh" and relevant to your audience. Get it? Evergreen! Like the trees... *ahem*
Anyway, this type of content will be useful for an extended period of time. This is in contrast to trends, news-based, or timely content, which all rely on a specific event to maintain their relevance. These types of content are only valuable to your audience if they are posted right away, or within a certain time-frame.
So what's so magical about evergreen content? Evergreen content is a hugely important part of your online presence, because it can attract visitors and generate traffic over a long period of time. If you consistently create high-quality, useful evergreen content, you can establish yourself as a reliable source of information in your industry and build a loyal audience.
Evergreen content is also very useful to have when you're aiming to maintain a consistent online presence. You can do something called "batching," which is creating a ton of content at once. That way, you can schedule content for the future, or just have it ready to go if the news is slow or there aren't any relevant trends for you to use.
